Christmas Style Trends 2016
I was incredibly lucky to go to the Not On The High Street “Christmas in July” event this week. I know talking about Christmas early can be a love-hate thing, but as someone who has their tree up by 1st November usually, I am definitely up for some chat about the Christmas trends pipped for 2016.
A Playful Christmas
You will have seen the cacti, flamingo and pineapple prints in the shops. Well now it’s coming to play at Christmas too, along with playful twists on food, like these sprout chocolates above.
I would never have imagined that a pineapple print on your Christmas table could still feel festive but it really did. Think Christmas on a holiday.
A Nordic Christmas
So many of us plumped for the paired down nordic decorations around last year. This year you can easily update them with a few key bright nordic pieces coming out. Simple prints to pop on picture ledges which are so popular right now.
A personalised gift no longer means a mug with your name on it. I saw personalised refillable whisky barrels, jumpers and custom pyjamas to surprise each other with for Christmas eve (a tradition in our house now),
and these incredibly cute personalised biscuits in baubles for children. I love the idea of this being a long awaited treat on the tree to be eaten only with hot chocolate under blankets on the sofa while we wait for Santa.
We bought a personalised sack last year. A keepsake purchase that can be used every year. These simple monochrome sacks caught my eye as being a good size, the quality could be felt in the material and a classic design to last.
Kids Rooms Get Festive
You might know from the vlogs that I put Christmas bedding on each year…well now there are kids versions. Oh yes, Christmas is coming to their toddler bedrooms and nurseries too. This simple bear design is careful to be perfect year round though so no wasted pennies.
Something I fell in love with in the childrens section was this personalised knitted santa sack. The idea of the designer sat hand knitting this with her giant knitting needles warms my heart. It felt incredibly soft & luxurious. A tactile feeling that in years to come could bring back those christmas memories at a touch.
I find it incredibly hard to shop for my husband. If I ask him he always says he doesn’t mind, but I get frustrated at the struggle as he so deserves a treat. Well I’ll be going to NOTHS this year. There were so many gifts for men I may even struggle for choice.
This chess set would be an amazing gift to be passed down through family over time. Each piece was satisfyingly weighty. with its New York theme making me wish for a plane ticket straight there.
And for my friends? Well I fancy spreading a little positivity with the gratitude journals and positivity cards. A gift that can make much more difference to their happiness than yet another bath set.
I must also say thank you these beauties below. You may have seen them before from the Channel Mum team. I’ll link their channels in case you’d like to check them out.
Lisa is one of the funniest, quick witted women I know. A busy mum of 3 and in the past a surrogate, an all round amazing woman.
Bella is my soul mate. She really “gets” the whole deal about infertility (now a mum of an energetic toddler boy like me) and is always so thoughtful for everyone around her.
Charlie is incredibly down to earth, upfront and always makes you feel welcome. Another mum who is braving motherhood with a boy. Wishing her lots of luck as her wedding day is nearly here!
That’s it for my little roundup. I hope its got you excited for Christmas and looking around your living rooms to picture these trends around you. Christmas should be playful and thats definitely coming through for the Christmas Trends of 2016.
